On April 3rd 2014, an educational fair at Ban Ao Po School was opened by PPAO Chief Executive Advisor – Boonserm Suwannarathphoom, who acted on behalf of Chief Executive – Paiboon Upattising. The fair, which took place April 3rd & 4th 2014, was entitled “Educational Development towards ASEAN.” Local officials who attended the opening included Director of Phuket Primary Education Office – Chalam Attatham, his Deputy – Anurak Rungrueng, Pa Khlok Mayor – Panya Sampaorat, Ao Po School Director – Nuanla-or Rungrotsathornkit, the Primary Education Commission committee, teachers, parents, pupils and guests.
Mrs Nuanla-or informed the gathering that the purpose of the fair was to raise money for a library for the 55-year-old school. The funds received will be used towards acquiring books and equipment to bring the library more up-to-date and suitable for today users. The school library will also be made available for members of the public.
Mr Boonserm echoed the statement made by the school director in relation to building a modern and well-equipped library which he deemed is indispensable for learning activities. He reiterated that PPAO, which has a strong policy on education, has last year alone granted a sizeable fund towards hiring over 200 teachers and for repairing and renovating schools all over Phuket. He praised the school for wanting to make the library available to the public and thanked all involved in organizing this fair.
