On February 25 2014, a team of PPAO executives took part in a basic education committee meeting which was hosted by Prachan Pajanthabutr, chairman of the committee. PPAO officials including Chief Executive Advisor – Boonserm Suwannarathaphoom, who acted on behalf of Chief Paiboon Upattising, and PPAO Council Member – Kraiwut Koomban. Also in attendance was PPAO Mueang Phuket School Director Wiroj Tantiwiriyaporn, officials from PPAO, and involved parties. The annual meeting, the first of 2014, was held at PPAO Mueang Phuket School.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the education quality development program in PPAO Mueang School as follows:
• Employment of 12 additional teachers and 20 teaching assistants, to make the total 99 teaching personnel;
• Admission of students for Kindergarten 1, Primary 1, Middle School 1, and Secondary 4 for the scholar year 2014. Admittance will take place from February 27 – March 3. For Kindergarten 1 (Anuban 1), there will be 4 classes with 30 students each; For Primary 1 (Por 1), there will be four classes with 40 students each, and an additional IEP class with 40 students; For Middle School 1 (Mor 1), there are six classes with 40 students each, and an additional IEP class with 30 students; For Secondary 4 (Mor 4), there are two classes, dividing into Science-Math class with 35 students, and Art-Language also with 35 students.
PPAO Mueang Phuket School is known for scholar excellence with students winning silver and bronze medals at the National English Language Contest. It was also awarded the best school for a saving campaign for the Government Saving Bank’s School Bank Project. Additionally, nine of its teachers have won “Good Teachers” awards from the Quality Learning Foundation (QLF). The school is also a certified “Education Reform Standard” institution by the same organization.
