On April 27th, 2010, at Phuket Graceland Resort and Spa, Prayad Nopparat, the manager of Pisona Taxi Company, took Tiratana Puapadung, one of their Tuk Tuk taxi drivers who found some tourists’ items left in his taxi, to offer them to the police and find the right owner of the items. Pian Keesin, Patong Mayor, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Chalit Kaewyarat, the commander of Phuket Provincial Police, also witnessed the event.
Tiratana, the taxi driver, said that he found the items left in the car on April 26th, including two new handbags for women, two rings, sunglasses and a credit card receipt. Then he informed his manager in order to find the owner of those items. Previously on five occasions, Tiratana had found things left in his car and he returned them back to owners every time. He said it’s in the drivers’ code of ethics and it not only makes him feel proud but also impresses people coming to travel in Phuket.
Wichai Praisa-ngob, Governor of Phuket, said that it’s really good to have taxi drivers like Tiratana and the police will find the tourist who is the rightful owner of the item.
