Advisor to PPAO Chief Executive – Boonserm Suwannarathphoom recently led the “Phuket Care” medical outreach team to visit the homes of patients suffering from disabilities and chronic illness in Tambon Mai Khao, Amphoe Thalang. Joining the team were PPAO Hospital GP – Dr Orawan Tantisuk, officers from PPAO Health Division, nurses and therapists from PPAO Hospital, officers from Tambon Mai Khao Hospital, and health volunteers from Mai Khao Public Health Office. During this visit, PPAO donated gift packs containing sanitary napkins, talcum powder, soap, towels, etc. to seven patients.
Phuket Care medical outreach program was established by PPAO who works regularly in collaboration with local health volunteers, with the aim to support housebound patients suffering from chronic illnesses or disability. The secondary aim is to encourage volunteers to play a bigger role in looking after patients in their own community so that the patients and their families can lead a reasonably normal life and are able to look after themselves. This strong support system is invaluable and gives patients strength to the disabled people. The program also aims to develop a sense of public welfare and compassion among members of communities. If you know of someone who needs such support, please contact the Public Health Division of PPAO at 076 354 819, 076 354 820.
