On June 10th 2014, PPAO, represented by Council Chairman – Pradit Saengchan, along with Council Member – Chusak Sematrakul, took part in a meeting on the Phuket Municipality Community Welfare Fund and awarded funds to its members at the Municipality Office in Phuket Town. The meeting was attended by Vice Governor – Somkiat Sangkhoasuttirak, Phuket City Mayor – Somjai Suwanna, and dignitaries.
The Phuket Municipality Community Welfare Fund, established in 2005, has garnered a total of 1,402 members and is overlooked by a 12-strong committee. It aims to support members of the public within the Phuket City who have no social insurance and also to forge a strong sense of community.
Operated in a systematic way by connecting community groups and supported by other partner organizations, the Fund creates a pool of financial resources which are used for further investment and eventual gains for its members. Phuket Municipality Community Welfare Fund derives its income from financial support by PPAO, Phuket City Municipality, members’ contributions, government contributions, other saving groups, and investment interests. As one of the organizations working for the benefit of the public, the Phuket City Community Welfare Fund has been receiving financial support from PPAO in the past. The support will continue well into the future, said Mr Pradit, Council Chairman of PPAO.
