The Phuket National Blood Service Section is seeking blood donations among members of the public, especially from now until the end of this month. Anchalin Tongwerawat, a public relations officer of Phuket National Blood Service Section, said that there is a high demand for blood in every hospital in Phuket during Songkran holidays every year due to accidents.
She points out that during this hot season period the supply declines as it is school holiday and 25% of blood is donated by students and teenagers. Other donors are usually on vacation or travelling to other provinces. Anchalin estimated that they may be short of blood in stock in this summer time. Consequently, Thailand Red Cross’s Blood Service Section and Phuket National Blood Service Section encourage people to donate their blood to be available during Songkran festival.
If you are interested to donate your blood, please contact the nearest hospital. Even a little of your blood can save a person’s life.
