Paiboon Upattising, the President of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization (PPAO), informed that Phuket’s first OTOP Center was recently opened in the area of Sapan Hin Park (at the old Lucky shopping center). The budget used in the center’s re-construction was supported by PPAO. This OTOP Center was established to be another market channel to promote local OTOP products, agricultural products, community products and souvenirs.
Once the customers entered the center, they could enjoy shopping for diverse local products displayed on the first floor of the center. These products were directly delivered from entrepreneurs’ networks in Phuket. Most of the customers at the beginning were groups of people who came to inspect PPAO’s work. The second floor of the center is an arts exhibition. The art collections were created by Phuket local artists. PPAO hopes that the center can be another way to help locals generate more income. The OTOP center is currently open only during Friday, Saturday & Sundays. PPAO plans to allocate additional budget to improve the landscape around the building and make it more beautiful.
