Governor gets Phuket in gear to fight against drugs

25 August 2009 – Phuket Governor Wichai Praisa-ngob presided over “War on Drugs” committee’s meeting at Phuket City Hall.

Vice Governor Smith Palawichai, Phuket Deputy Piya Paratasilpin, and representatives from related organizations were attended a meeting.

The agenda is to follow up all 69 drug addicts who have been cured, resist and solve drugs problem in 58 communities, and watch out for drugs spread in 21 communities.

Phuket Governor emphasized on frequently patrol the areas without advance notice. Of course, teenage students are the first target.

Meanwhile Phuket Provincial Police unveiled that there are two major ways to import drugs into Phuket, by land and sea transportations.

Good news, Phuket Provincial Police can catch 29 drug warlords, more than firstly expected.
