Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach has revealed the next major step in its campaign to combat plastic pollution in Phuket – a month-long initiative to stop using plastic bags.
Throughout the month of February and the campaign will be continued though out the year, the resort will encourage all associates to carry reusable fabric bags. By reducing plastic bags among its associates, the resort hopes to communicate a message to their friends, families, colleagues and communities across Phuket that plastic bags are no longer acceptable.
This is the latest effort by Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach to reduce plastic, following a previous campaign to eliminate plastic straws from its F&B outlets. Future months will see other new campaigns, including replacing plastic bottles with aluminum flasks. These reusable containers will be delivered by the HR team to the associates as birthday gifts.
These initiatives are all in line with Marriott International’s global pledge, “Serve360 – Doing good in every direction.”
“Nai Yang Beach is a breathtaking area of natural beauty, where interwoven ecosystems of plants, animals and communities live in harmony. We are the protectors of this stunning coastal area, so we need to work together to conserve the environment. Our entire resort team needs to lead by example, engage with the community and create a positive impact. Our plastic-free campaigns will benefit for the entire Nai Yang Beach area and beyond,” commented Francois Poletti, Director of Operations, Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach.
Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach is inviting guests to reduce plastic use during their stay by using the beach bags provided in their rooms. It is hoped that single-use plastic bags will be completely eliminated at the resort and throughout Phuket in future.
