Phuket Governor warns of bad sea conditionsOn 17th April 2013, Phuket Governor – Mr. Maitree Aintusut gave further warning about the heavy rain, strong winds and high waves in the Andaman Sea. He advised that visitors travelling to Phang Nga‘s Koh Tachai should take extra care after problems experienced in recent days.

He also advised that boat tours, diving trips and fishing vessels should also be extra cautious and closely monitor weather conditions, especially after 3 tour boats had to be safely brought back to shore and about 400 tourists were stranded on Koh Tachai on Phang Nga and had to be rescued by the 3rd Fleet Navy from Pattani.

Visitors to the island and surrounding areas have to be taken care of when weather conditions such as those recently experienced occur and if such weather is repeated boats should be kept ashore. Fishermen should use their wisdom and experience, but in the case of a tour boats, the owners should take responsibility for the safety of their passengers, they should not be careless and should have all the required safety equipment aboard the boats.
