Bangkok, 19 December 2018 – Following the stunning Venice Biennale last year, Bangkok has been transformed into a citywide art gallery for the Bangkok Arts Biennale 2018; an international contemporary art showcase for both Thai and international artists across the city’s multiple landmarks including temples, shopping malls and heritage sites. To best enjoy the highlights of Bangkok Arts Biennale 2018, ONYX Hospitality Group offers two ideal arts tour base hotels with its city properties: Amari Watergate Bangkok and Shama Sukhumvit Bangkok.
Amari Watergate Bangkok
Located in the heart of the city’s top shopping district, Amari Watergate Bangkok offers arts enthusiasts easy access to enjoy the best of Bangkok Arts Biennale 2018. To avoid traffic nightmares, guests can take a charming boat ride from Pratunam pier, located just across the road from the hotel, travelling along the Khlong Saen Saep to the Phanfa Leelard pier in the old town which is within easy reach to the riverside heritage buildings where many art pieces are installed. Following a short old town stroll, guests can hop on a long-tailed boat along the Chao Phraya River to visit the art landmarks from “Dragon Boat” by the Bank of Thailand Learning Centre, “Giant Twins” at Wat Arun to “Zero” at the East Asiatic Building. Back at the Amari, guests can relax and reenergize with an Energy Boost Package, a 150-minute ritual which combines a body scrub, ancient Thai and Ayurvedic massage techniques and a crystal facial, available exclusively at the hotel’s Breeze Spa. Nightly rates start at 3,150THB ++.
Shama Sukhumvit Bangkok
With its prime location in the heart of the business district and shopping malls, close to BTS Nana and Phloen Chit stations, Shama Sukhumvit is an ideal spot for art lovers to explore the amazing BAB exhibits along the BTS skytrain network. From the hotel, guests can take a train ride to start the journey from the Bangkok Arts & Culture Centre (BACC) where many highlights of the event are located. Guests can take a nice photo with the colourful “Basket Tower” by Choi Jeong Hwa and, from there, take a stroll through interconnected malls and the skywalk to see the iconic “14 Pumpkins” by world-famous Yayoi Kusama at Siam Paragon and Central World. From there, we recommend another short train ride to Phloen Chit and Phrom Phong BTS stations to see more striking Choi Jeong Hwa’s artwork including “Fruit Tree”, “Gun shots” etc. at the Central Embassy and EmQuartier. After the arts journey via skytrain, guests can go on a shopping spree or refuel with a savoury dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants. Back at the hotel, guests can sit back and relax in their cosy home-like apartment, or take in the amazing city view from the rooftop infinity pool. Nightly rates start from 3,150 THB ++.
