On September 13th 2012, Vice District Mayor of Rasada District – Mr.Sontas Peeradonkoses together with Vice President of Parish Council Rasada – Mr.Amporn Apicharttrakul, launched a training program entitled “Knowledge of the current waste situation”. The program was part of the district’s 2012 waste management integrated project.
Mr.Sontas said “Waste disposal is a major problem for many countries. Unfortunately, Thailand is one of them and we are struggling to find a good solution. Ratsada District has paid a lot of money on waste management, approximately 10 million baht each year, which could have been spent developing other things. Therefore, we are now looking to launch a public campaign asking people not to put their reusable or recyclable waste into their bins, but use them for other usages such as food-waste as fertilizer, and for materials such as plastic and paper to be recycled. The purpose of this training is to create environmental awareness among children and young people, as for an alternative approach to waste disposal and a way for young people to make a little extra money. If we can all start to follow this campaign we will reduce the cost of waste disposal, reduce pollution and reduce diseases.”
The training received a very good response from the public.
