Training courses on waste management and energy recycling were delivered to students of PPAO schools on September 11th & 12 2014 as part of the PPAO environment training program for educational institutions. PPAO Chief Advisor – Boonserm Suwannarathphoom, accompanied by PPAO Council Members – Opas Chopdee and Nuanchan Samart, and Head of Engineering Division Wassana Sriwilai presided over the course launches.
Organized by PPAO, the training program aims to educate students in all PPAO schools in sustainable waste management and energy recovery so they can use the experience gained to improve the environment in their communities. Four schools take part in the training, namely PPAO Ban Talard Neu, PPAO Muang Phuket, PPAO Ban Nabon and PPAO Ban Mai Riap schools.
The training courses, collaboration among PPAO, PPAO Muang Phuket School, Phuket Natural and Environmental Resource Regional 15, Phuket Environment Foundation, and private companies involved in environmental management were attended by 250 students. Training modules included lectures on local rubbish and wastewater, sorting rubbish, sustainable waste recycling, etc. In the practical modules, participants were divided into two groups, the first focusing on earning money from recycling, and the second on turning leftover organic materials into compost and liquid fertilizer. Another part of the course included field trips to the Phuket incinerator and the Royal Phuket City Hotel on September 6th.
