Phuket to worship King Taksin the Great


9 December 2009 – Eakkapat Chalongrattana managing director together with other executives of Duangjitt Resort Patong were in the press conference of a ceremony to worship King Taksin the Great.

The ritual is set to take place in Phuket at the hotel’s lawn on Monday 28 December, 2009 (the day he accessed to the throne) from 07.59am onward.

Blood donation is also an activity people can take part from 9.00am. At 10.00am to be a give food offerings to Buddhist monks. After that honourable guests will enjoy lunch together at noon.

King Taksin the Great, former General Taksin (April 17, 1734 – April 7, 1782) was the only King of the Thonburi Kingdom. He is greatly revered by the Thai people for his leadership in liberating Siam from Burmese occupation after the Second Fall of Ayutthaya in 1767.
