Khun Thanawat Aroonpun – Managing Director of Straits Asset Advisory announced in a recent meeting with Government officials at Phuket Provincial Hall that his company were interested in investing in a fresh water production project in Phuket, which he sees as a very important basic utility management project. However, it is first necessary to collect technical, environmental and economical data which needs to be analyzed. The company has 1,000 million baht to invest in the project, in addition to an infrastructure fund, which is part of a joint venture with South Korea.
He said “I know there is a problem with a shortage of fresh water in Phuket and people in some areas have suffered. I think this project will help reduce the suffering of the people. We want to help the Government to supply fresh water sources, and we know what has to be allocated according to Phuket’s population. Phuket would be a large project and without the contributions help people would have to wait. To considering taking funds from overseas to invest with Thai companies is a very good project. However, we will have to discuss with the Provincial Waterworks Authority, Treasury Department and Local Organization to see what the costs would be to cover each area.”
