How did Kan Eang @pier Restaurant start?
The restaurant found its beginnings as a grocery store opened by Mr. Chamnan Pachantabutr, affectionately known as Khun Daeng, approximately 40 years ago. He was and still is close to the local fishermen who are based at Chalong Pier. During those early days they began to have regular friendly gatherings near his store, grilling the fish they caught and cooking other original recipes. Once sold commercially, these unique dishes quickly grew in popularity and are still mainstays on the restaurant’s menu today.
In 2007, major renovations were initiated to meet increasing demand as well as prepare for the next generation within the Pachantabutr family. Prior to this, the restaurant was officially known as Kan Eang, but the name was altered to favor the modern and stylish look you see there today.
What was the incentive behind opening the VSET Restaurant?
Feeling that they were ready to expand into other areas of the restaurant market, the Pachantabutrs decided their first step would be to open a small but intimate venue serving the best western cuisine Phuket has to offer. To help them achieve this, they were joined by Chef Ronnie Macuja, a culinary expert Khun Wallee has known for over ten years. Together they conceived VSET, a beautiful restaurant found attached to Kan Eang @pier.

Their highest priorities have always been to offer a great location alongside value in each product.

However, when he seeks advice, they do not hesitate in assisting him and passing on their own experience. With his youthful approach, Mon has done a remarkable job, introducing new housing designs for the Premium Patak Villa Townhomes that have been accepted and appreciated by new residents.
