Club Med Phuket granted Green Globe CertificationClub Med is pleased to announce that Club Med Phuket has been awarded Green Globe Certification, in recognition of its commitment to protecting and respecting the environment.

It is the first time that the highly sought-after stamp has been granted to Club Med Phuket.

Green Globe Certification is the tourism and travel industries’ certification program for sustainable tourism and proves that those bearing its mark save energy, water and resources, reduce operational costs and positively contribute to the benefit of local communities and the environment.

The award is testament to Club Med’s dedication to ensuring that green policies are at the heart of the business. From its inception, Club Med was created to provide access to beautifully preserved natural environments, placing respect for nature as integral to the company’s mission, and today Club Med is amongst industry leaders in ‘green certification’.

Club Med believes that great holidays are about capturing and experiencing the exceptional, and that surroundings are central to this. Each Club Med Resort location is carefully selected to showcase nature, so that guests enjoy breathtaking natural beauty, while also protecting the site’s natural resources.

Environmental and sustainability initiatives include; communicating green strategies to partners and suppliers and creating additional opportunities for sustainable business, staff environmental training programs, water wastage reduction programs, recycling and composting to reduce landfill.

Quentin Briard, Club Med VPRegional Marketing ESAP (East South Asia Pacific) and Sales for SEA (South East Asia), says: “We respect nature and always take an eco-friendly approach within our Resorts. It helps to save the planet and offers guests an amazing wildlife experience at the same time. Our aim is to obtain Green Globe Certification for all our Asian resorts by the end of 2013. This goal is very realistic because the Green Globe label is validated according to many practices and policies that are already in place at our Resorts.  We are currently putting more tools in place to facilitate the labelling, and we will createmore and more eco-label resorts.”
