Bangkok Hospital Phuket celebrates the 20th Anniversary with the “Be Healthy Fair 2015: 20th Anniversary”, launching the “Bike Ride Project” to encourage a healthy and environmentally friendly way of life among local people.

On 22 May 2015, Dr. Narongrit Havarungsi, Hospital Director, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Be Healthy Fair 2015: 20th Anniversary”, which was held at the fountain roundabout in front of the hospital. It marked the past 2 successful decades of healthcare for both local people and international travelers from worldwide.

As for the objectives of the Be Healthy Fair, Dr. Narongrit explained, “it is held every year as part of special health activities for all Phuket residents, who have continued trust in Bangkok Hospital Phuket. This year, the Be Healthy Fair is held for a period of 1 month, from 20 May – 20 June 2015. There will be a wide array of special health check-up promotions as well as other packages and discounts galore. Four main health check-up packages are on offer, based on age and risk patterns, with prices starting from 2,020 Baht. Additional specialized examinations include cancer screenings, cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening using Digital Mammogram, anti-aging evaluation of Royal Micronutrients and Royal Hormones, allergy tests. Special cosmetic surgery packages are also on offer.”

“In addition to those special health check-up promotions, our hospital is launching the “Bike Ride Project” as part of our social contribution activity in the long run. It aims to encourage people to take on biking as part of their daily life –whether for workout or sport competition. We have initiated it first among hospital staff, and many of our doctors, nurses and staff have now got on the wheels. Biking is considered to be beneficial to heart functioning and the generation of the brain’s memory cells, which helps reduce chances of Alzheimer’s disease. Normally, such memory cells tend to degenerate rapidly after the age of 30. Biking also has minimal impact on the body’s bone and joints, as well as an after burn effect, in which excess calorie burning will continue for another 2 – 3 hours after biking, not to mention its advantage as a green and stress-reducing activity. Today, we give out Bike Ride Project T-shirts to all participants and officially kick off the campaign, which will be followed by relevant activities in the future, e.g. “Fun Bike Rally” for the general public using any sorts of bikes, a professional bike challenge competition. This will help encourage all people at all age to initiate biking. We are thankful for strong cooperation and support from Samkong community as well as all biking clubs around Phuket,” he added.

On this auspicious occasion, there are a lot of health and fun activities in store: famous Thai folk comedy show “Khun Phra Chuay” on 29 May 2015 at 19.00 hrs., decoupage class and demonstration on 2 June 2015 at 10.00 hrs., “Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby Talk” for expecting mothers (conducted in Thai) on 13 June 2015 at 9.00 hrs., and “Baby Super Speed Contest” for babies aged 6 – 12 months on 14 June 2015 at 9.00 hrs. All are welcome free of charge.
