A total of 23 Phuket hotels & spas have been nominated for the 2014 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, which are fast becoming the industry’s most prestigious recognition of excellence in the tourism and travel, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) New York Office.
Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said, “The sheer number of nominations for Phuket is affirmation of the island’s position as one of the world’s premier tourism destinations.
“We continue to improve, every year, adding to the sum of exciting hotels and fun to suit a range of budgets. Some of the nominations show that Phuket is also in a league of its own when it comes to luxury offerings and elite services.”
Along with the 23 nominees Phuket in also nominated in the Best Islands – Asia category.
There are two local spas that have being nominated in the Best Spas category. These are the Banyan Tree Spa Sanctuary (Phuket), Six Senses Sanctuary Phuket.
But it is in the Hotels category that Phuket really stands out, with a total of 21 properties having been nominated which are:
Amanpuri, Anantara Phuket Villas, Andara Phuket, Angsana Laguna Phuket, The Banyan Tree Phuket, The Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa, Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort, Mövenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket, Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort and Villas, Paresa, Regent Phuket Cape Panwa, Sala Phuket, Serenity Resort and Residences, Surin Phuket, The Naka Island a Luxury Collection Resort and Spa, The Pavilions, The Racha, The Royal Phuket Yacht Club, Trisara and Twin Palms.
