Angsana Laguna Phuket in collaboration with XANA Beach Club is celebrating the traditional Thai New Year festival with a full day programme on Sunday 13th April. In the spirit of the Songkran festival, resort’s guests and outside visitors are invited to join a traditional ritual and parade, as well as extensive family entertainment free of charge.
Songkran festival is celebrated in Thailand as the traditional New Year’s Day from 13 to 15 April, the hottest time of the year in Thailand. It has also become a wet and wild New Year’s celebration for young generation and foreigners. People celebrate by throwing water on each other, using water guns, buckets, hoses and anything they can get their hands on.
On the morning of 13th, the Songkran festival programme will begin at Angsana Laguna Phuket, where associates and guests gather for a celebratory religious session at Lobby Bar from 12pm followed by a water blessing ritual at Poolside Garden. The gentle pouring of fragrant water over the hands symbolizes a gesture to wash away bad luck, while paying respect to elders. The festivities will then continue with Thai dance, ‘water war’, and traditional Thai games. Guests will then join the procession to XANA Beach Club.
XANA Beach Club will feature a host of fun-filled activities for families including a water war, a sand castle, a bouncy castle, Miss Songkarn competition and Muay Thai performance. A Street-Food style will be offered by the beach priced at THB 220 ++ per person from 12 – 4 pm.
All Angsana in-house guests checking in between 11 and 13 April will be greeted with a Thai water ritual ceremony, in preparation for the much anticipated Thai New year celebration.
