The event is held from March 13th-15th 2011 in the area of the Thalang Victory Field or Kok Chana Pama, Thepkrasatri sub-district, Thalang, Phuket. The purpose of the event is to encourage locals to gain more knowledge about Phuket history and to develop the event host area to be one of the island’s historical tourist attractions and a learning center.
The highlight of the event is the light and sound performance telling the legend of Thalang’s two heroines, Thao Thepkrasatri and Thao Srisoonthorn, who fought against Burmese troops who tried to invade the island around 200 years ago.
There are also group ordinations at Lattiwanaram Temple, historical tour programs provided for youths and local leaders, a historical route rally, a mini marathon event, a cycling tournament, the two heroines and Thalang ancestors commemoration ceremony, booths with local foods and products in the event area, and an exhibition honoring H.M. the King Bhumipol.
PPAO also provides traditional performances at the event every day.
