Thai protests & Icelandic volcano affect Phuket’s tourism, so entertainment places request later closing time

Weerawit Kruesombat, the president of Patong Entertainment Business Entrepreneurs, said that the entertainment businesses in Patong were directly affected by the protests of UDD red shirts in Bangkok and the eruption of the volcano in Iceland, as the two situations have partly caused about 50% less tourists coming to Patong.

He requested the related government offices to allow the entertainment complexes in Patong to open until 5.00 a.m. because the peak time their customers come was after midnight.  He mentioned that it would also help the police to look after these people as they entertain themselves in these places where it is easier to monitor security than their private rooms or other places.
