Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) will hold its 59th Annual Travel Congress in Phuket from September 17-19, 2010. The convention will be held in Laguna Phuket area.
Rajji Rai, President, TAAI as quoted on travelbizmonitor.com said, “It’s perhaps the best time to hold the convention in Thailand as it will help in the revival of the tourism industry post the political turmoil. Many agents in India have heard about Phuket as a destination but not visited the place and the convention will provide the right opportunity to the trade to explore the destination and promote it.”
Marketing Manager, Tourism Authority of Thailand, New Delhi, Pinki Arora also shows confidence that the event will help boost the tourism saying, “Phuket is an up market destination which is not tapped to its fullest potential at the moment. With the convention to be held in Phuket this year, it will definitely help the trade members to explore the destination and benefit Thailand to revive the tourism industry after the political turmoil.”
This year, Thailand received 2, 77,393 Indian visitor arrivals from January to May 2010 and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is looking at regaining travellers’ confidence through different B2B and B2C strategies.
