On April 26th, 2010, Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization or PPAO took some tourism entrepreneurs from Phuket to attend the Thailand Road Show 2010 at Seoul Plaza Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. The road show was held by TAT Korea to make Thai tourism entrepreneurs understand more about Korea’s economy and tourism.
At the event, Dr. Wilai Noipayak, the director of TAT Korea, explained the economic and tourism situation in Korea, saaying that Korean people would travel aboard more since the domestic economy was recovering. The expected GDP of Korea this year was 3.9%. The average income of Koreans was about 20,000 US $ Dollars per person per month. This makes it easier for them to take a trip abroad.
Dr.Wilai also mentioned that Phuket needs to focus on Korean people who want to take a Honeymoon trip, golf trip or family trip in Thailand. Korean students were also an interesting market to keep an eye on.
