Local life festival is an event held annually by the Old Phuket Foundation. The date is set on the second Sunday of December since December is a month of celebration. It usually begins with the King Birthday on December the 5th, Christmas on the 25th and New Year’s Eve which celebrated around the World on the 31st.
Local life festival this year will mark the 4th year. To remove the electrical cable under the ground made by Phuket Municipalities will be this year highlight. The event is therefore change to the last Sunday of December which falls into the 27th.
No transmission towers and wires mean better Audio visual show. We will color the buildings light and sounds in order to create beauty for attendees.
The food activities at the fair will remain superb in term of variety and quality. Various types of foods and drinks are certified to handle more than 4,000 participants (last year figures).
The stage performance is second to none. This year features musical bands from the Yamaha Music School Big-C Phuket and Mr. Tanit Prateep na Thalang as well as two-three bands from small groups.
The performing art played by the famous Suriya Kosanae and the short drama play performance by Phuket Rajabhat University under Professor Sawit Pongwat’s supervision will definitely raise art, cultural and architectural awareness in the Old Town.
Dr. Marut Lekpetch (aka No Ko- Paksawin) created a short film featured the archway “Ngo kaki.” He was awarded Best Short Film producer from Rotterdam International Film Festival.
Phuket Thai Hua School (Prasatvittaya), Satree Phuket School, Phuket Wittayalai School, and Schools under the Phuket Municipality have been preparing the best performance to participate in this event.
Street performance guitarists also will entertain along the Soi Romanee to jazz up the audiences and the party goers who prefer to sit as quiet corner to be happy with the music.
There is no entrance fee in this event. No tickets for sales. Everyone is encouraged to buy foods and drinks as you like.
The purpose is to draw people to visit the old town district, to celebrate the New Year’s Eve, and to have expats and out-of-town visitors to mingle with the locals.
