On July 23rd 2010, the Phuket Tourism Association hosted a seminar called ‘Phuket Creative Tourism’ forum. The forum was crowded with hotel and tourism entrepreneurs in Phuket.
The forum focused on the discussion topic of ‘Phuket and the way to be a creative tourism destination’ led by prominent thinkers and speakers such as Aphirak Kosayothin, the Creative Economic Consultant to the Prime Minister of Thailand; Wansadet Thawornsook, a marketing expert; and Prasert Aiumroongrot, an advertising and marketing expert.
In conclusion, Aphirak said that Phuket original culture should be preserved to be a selling point of the island apart from the island’s beaches, sea, and other natural beauty. He said it should highlight the long prosperity from mining during the past, the Vegetarian Festival, the unique dresses, culture and food. If these were developed but also maintained, the traditional highlights of Phuket will be able to attract more tourists to come and relax here.
