In order build Tourist’s confidence in Phuket and to fight the island’s rip-offs, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports is to open a Bureau of Tourist Assistance and Fraud Prevention.
The project was launched late last week by MOTS permanent secretary, Suwat Sidthilaw, deputy permanent secretary Thanitta Savetsila Maneechote, and Tourist Police commander Police Major-General Adis Ngamchitsuksri.
Permanent secretary Khun Suwat announced, “This campaign is aimed at providing tourists with important tips on how to avoid risks and they are also encouraged to file complaints at the new bureau.”
It is estimated that 70% of tourists have made their travel arrangements, without using travel agents, and therefore have no point of reference should they encounter a problem.
Phuket’s bureau will be located on Patong Beach Road.
