Phuket Tin Mine Museum ready to open

Phuket Tin Mine MuseumOn March 3rd 2011, Tri Akaradecha, the Governor of Phuket, Chai-anan Sutthikul, the Mayor of Kathu Municipality, Somboon Jirayus, the President of Phuket Tourism Association, Dr.Prasit Koisiripong, the President of Phuket Museum Club, and Pol.Maj.Gen Pikad Tantipong, the Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, together made a statement for the official opening ceremony of Phuket Tin Mine Museum.

Tri said “Now the museum is ready to welcome visitors.” The museum is located in the area of 400 rai on Kathu-Koh Kaew Road, Kathu, Phuket. It took 181 million baht of budget to construct the museum. There are indoor and outdoor exhibitions telling the story of people working in the tin mines and their way of life. The area outside the museum building will be developed to be the new tourist spot of Phuket following the development strategy of Phuket.
