On November 19th, Wittaya Sinkara, the organizer of the 17th Phuket Bike Week, visited Tri Akaradecha, the Governor of Phuket, to discuss the organisation of 2011 Phuket Bike Week.
Wittaya said that the Phuket Bike Week is planned to be held on April 8th-10th 2011 at Patong Beach. It aimed to promote Phuket to be a center of land & marine tourism and to campaign for people to ride motorcycles safely and to generate money for public benefit activities.
Phuket Bike Week is an annual festival here of big motorbikes. It has been held 16 times with the 17th festival is in 2011 and is now considered the biggest bike week in Asia. It is broadcast by TV to many countries and promoted through 200,000 members in the network of Harley Davidson Owner Groups, 300 bike clubs in Thailand, and 500 bike clubs around the world. This helps to bring more tourists to Phuket and directly benefits tourism entrepreneurs. It is estimated that there would be bikers from many countries including U.S.A., Canada, Sweden, UK, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and Norway joining the event.
