Weerapong Waitayawongsakul, the Provincial Public Relations Officer, said that there would be Loy Kratong events held in many parts of Phuket. The main purpose of the events was to promote traditional customs to youth as well as to conserve this traditional event and to present it to foreign visitors and tourists.
Many local organizations hold events in different areas, including Phuket City Municipality which would hold its festival on November 12th-21st in the area of Sapan Hin Park. Its festival grand opening would be on November 21st at the central stage. Apart from performances on stage, there would be a street procession which would be very fascinating. Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization would hold the festival in the area of Chalong Pier on November 20th-21st. There would be beauty pageant and kratong contests in the event. In Patong, the festival would be held at Loma Park and there would be another event held by Kathu Municipality at the Phuket Tin Mine Museum.
Karon Municipality would hold the event at Nong Han Park & lake. Rawai Municipality would hold the festival in the area of Nai Harn Lake. Rassada Municipality’s event would be at Monkey Point, Koh Sirey. Mu Dong Canal would be a location of the festival held by Wichit Municipality. Lattiwanaram South Temple is a location of the festival held by Chalong Municipality. Lastly, there would a traditional Loy Kratong festival with an old fashioned vintage theme held by Srisoonthorn Sub-District Administrative Organization at Bang Maruan Mine Pit.
