Elephant trekking in Phuket

You may have heard about gorgeous beaches in Phuket, Patong, Surin, Nai Harn, Karon, Kata, Kata Noi, Rawai, Bangtao, Nai Yang, Kamala, Leam Singh, Nai Thon, Mai Khao,………so many absolutely beautiful beaches.

Sea, Sun, Sand-these are what most people think of Phuket. But have you ever wondered what more leisure Phuket can offer you?…….OK, start from night life in Patong, shopping in the famous Sunday market, golfing, yachting, doing spa treatment,…..and of course elephant trekking!

You can ride elephant everywhere in Phuket; in your hotel lobby, in a giant performance venue, on the beaches, and in elephant camps. Yes, it doesn’t sound good when I mentioned you to ride elephant in a hotel lobby or on the beach because it’s not where elephants should be found. But if you want to experience once, I suggest you to go to elephant camps and riding in a jungle where you can see scenery view of Phuket.

Personally I do like elephant trekking in Chalong, on the southern part of the island. The view from there is superb, as you can see both coastlines and surrounding islands, and enjoy interesting forest with a friendly big animal that will impress you endlessly.

And if you want more extreme, do not hesitate to ride on elephant without a mahout on a seat behind. It’s easier than riding a motorbike around Chalong circle! (I bet you would agree.)

Enjoy your trip in Phuket and don’t forget to try some Eco-tourisms like elephant trekking!
