Big Buddha temple crowded during Songkran in Phuket

During Songkran, everywhere in Phuket was crowded with tourists from Thailand itself and international countries. The busiest places were Phuket Town, Patong Beach and its Soi Bangla. Apart from splashing water on each other, many Thai people also went to the temples to worship and ask for blessings from the Buddha images and the monks as well.

This year the most crowded temple was the Big Buddha temple on Nak Kerd Mountain. Suporn Wanichkul, the president of Sattha 45 Foundation at the temple, said that everyday there are more than 1000 Buddhists and visitorsming to the temple, both for religious reasons and for pleasure.

Now the construction of the temple is 70% finished and it will be 100% completed in 6 months.
