On July 12th 2010, at Luang Anuphas Meeting Room in Prince of Songkla University (PSU) Phuket Campus, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Methee Sanpanich, the Deputy Dean of the campus, presided over the opening of the computer program writing competition called Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest or ACM-ICPC Thailand Southern Area. The competition was a part of the project named Thailand Excellence Software Contest & Award or TESCA 2010. It was held to provide an opportunity for university students who are talented in computer program writing as well as to develop Algorithms skills to those people.
This competition was one of the activities helping to set up strong computer skills of Thai people. This contributes to producing skillful human resources in the software industry of Thailand for the future.
There were 24 teams of students from Walailak University and all five campuses of PSU joining the competition. The winners of this competition would join the final national competition held at PSU in Songkhla Province during August 23rd – 24th 2010. The winners of the national competition get prizes worth 30,000 baht with honorable trophies. While the 2nd and the 3rd place winners receive prizes worth 20,000 baht and 10,000 baht respectively. Moreover the teams who won the 1st – 5th places of the competition get the right to join ASIA ACM-ICPC event in Vietnam.
