On August 17th 2010, Tri Akaradecha, a Vice Governor of Phuket, presided over the opening of Phuket Rajabhat University’s 23rd ‘Science Week’. The event was held by the Faculty of Science and technology in order to commemorate Thailand’s father of science, King Rama the 4th. It also honored HM the current King Bhumipol in his projects related to science.
There were various exhibitions in the event. A lot of students attended the activities including a science and mathematics quiz, science project competition, science comic drawing, science speech competition, etc.
Asst. Professor Natthapon Tuedam, the Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, said that the government had announced that August 18th every year as the National Science Day. People commemorate King Rama the 4th for his intelligence in science and they also honor HM King Bhumipol who applies science in the country’s development and supports science in the Thai educational system.
