A total of 60 teams from different countries around the world will be competing in the FIVE Beach Volleyball World Tour 2013 from 29th October – 3rd November 2013 on the beautiful Karon beach. The Phuket Thailand Open, powered by PTT, is the final event on the women’s 2013 FIVE Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour.
Mr Geoffrey Rowe, managing director of Pentangle Promotions Co Ltd, the license-holders for the tournament said “For this, the 8th competition, we expect it to be better than last year’s, which was held at Bang Saen Beach, Chonburi province. That event saw 45 teams compete; however, this year is likely to see 60 teams. Furthermore, originally there was only court used to play, at this event there will be two. We are confident that this year’s event will have more visitors, and that they will have more fun than last year”.
“Phuket Open 2013 FIVE Beach Volleyball will have 180 athletes from 25 countries participate and it will be shown all around the world. During the last two days of competition it is expected there will be a total audience of over 900 million people. Various types of sports activities are about to take place and this will be a clear indication as to whether the sport’s market or tourism are being affected by the recession” he added.
