Sponsored by world-famous beer brand Heineken, the popular event runs from May 25th to 27th this year and will allow participants to engage in a competitive yet fun-filled weekend of sport and socialising.
The competition typically attracts teams from around the world, with confirmed squads including Thailand’s Phuket Vagabonds, South Africa’s Rooster Tours, Japan’s YCAC, Aussie team Groote Eylandt Mudchooks and The Assassins from the UK.
Last year’s winners were The Royal Thai Police, who will not be competing in 2012, meaning a new champion is certain to be crowned this year.
In addition to Heineken’s support, organisers have been able to persuade sports equipment firm Rhino to provide match balls, demonstrating the ever-expanding profile of the contest.
There is also a philanthropic side to the tournament, with visiting teams and players contributing to children’s charity the Asia Centre Foundation.
Organisers have promised memorable matches, good fun and plenty of beer, with a venue set to be confirmed nearer to the date.
