On June 25th 2011 at 4.00 p.m. Mr.Paiboon Upatising, the President of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization or PPAO presided over the opening of the basketball competition called PPAO 2011 Basketball Junior League. The competition was held at Gymnasium 1, Sapan Hin Sport Center. There were many PPAO executives and staff, the schools executives, the youth basketball team trainers, and related people attended the ceremony.
This was the second time that PPAO host the competition. It is held on June 25th-Spetember 23rd 2011. There were many youth basketball teams from schools in Phuket joining the competition. The competition was held to promote the youths in Phuket to play sport since it contributed them to be disciplined, be team players and be away from the drugs. There were 9 male teams from Satri Phuket School, Phuket Wittayalai School, Muang Thalang School, Muslim Wittaya School, Buddhamonkolnimit School, Phuket Vocational College, Khajornkiatsuksa School, Phuket Techinical College, and Phuket Tai Hua School. The female team joining the competition are Satri Phuket School, Khajornkiatsuksa School, Kathu Wittaya School, Phuket Wittayalai School, Muang Thalang School, and Phuket Vocational College.
Mr.Paiboon said that ‘The youth should be developed in education, thoughts, intelligence, along with sport. Therefore, PPAO always supports the event contribute to Phuket youth development based on the mentioned idea. Apart from developing them to be the quality youth, I hope that we will find the outstanding basketball players from this competition, who then will be trained to be the representative players of Phuket to join the 28th National Youth Sport Competition which will be held in Phuket in 2012. Finally I would like thank everyone for making this competition happens.” Mr.Sarot Angkanapilas, the President of Phuket Basketball Club said that “Thanks PPAO for supporting this competition, the schools that send their team to join, and Chalermphrakiat School for the marching band in the opening ceremony. I believe that sport will make our youth to be better people who develop our nation in the future.”
