Phuket FC back to winning ways

Phuket FC back to winning waysAfter a disappointing first half of the season Phuket FC and the fans had something to celebrate after their game against Nakorn Pathom on Sunday evening (11 August 2013), a well deserved 2 – 0 victory, and a vital 3 points in the season in which it is still being said the team gain promotion to the Thai Premier League.

With the appointment of new coach ‘Teco’ came a new looking team, a new system, and a new feeling for the fans to go home with, one of extreme happiness at seeing the team actually hold on to a lead and not just achieve another 1 point game as has been customary for much of the season.

He started upfront alongside Ludovick ‘Bulldog’ Takam in a much needed change to the previous coaches predictable and unfortunately unsuccessful pairing of Geoffrey Dumeng and Giorgi. From the kick-off you could immediately notice a complete change of heart in the players attitude towards the game with a much more transparent system in place and the the players actually getting together and playing 100% as a team. Although Phuket were unlucky not to score in the first half, plenty of chances were created, the ball got to the players when and where it should have, and the fans got to see a style of play they had been waiting to see all season, and that they knew the players of the quality Phuket has should be able to achieve with a good coach behind them.

It was then time for coach ‘Teco’ to make the first changes to his line-up, taking of ‘Dudu’ and Takam and replacing them with Giorge and Phuket FC’s new star attraction Cristan Alex, a partnership which quickly looked  like it has a lot of good things in the making. And it didn’t take long for Cristan Alex to show why he is now the main attraction amongst the fans. After being brought down half-way into Nakhon Pathom’s half, he lined-up a free kick and from it scored what has to be the best goal Phuket has scored this season, and will definitely be a hard one to beat.

Phuket FC back to winning waysUnlike Phuket’s previous games, which have seen them lose concentration and their vital leads, Phuket were strong in defence, committed to keeping their lead and at the final whistle giving the fans a reason to celebrate. Let’s hope this is the shape of thing to come for Phuket FC for the remainder of the season.
