Southern Student Thai Sport Competition being held in Phuket August 6-11

On August 6th 2010, Prapai Rattanakit, the Director of Phuket Educational Service Area, presided over the opening of the Southern Student Thai Sport Competition 2010. There are students aged 12 – 18 years old from 14 southern provinces attending the competition. The competition is held to make the students realize how important and valuable Thai traditional sports are.

There are six Thai sports included in the competition, including Sepak Takraw or Thai Rattanball Game, Thai Chess, Thai Boxing, and Petong or Petanque. The competition is held during August 6th- 11th 2010. Each sport is held in different locations. Thai Rattanball games are held in Piboon Sawasdee School and Gymnasium 3 in Sapan Hin. Thai chess is held in the meeting room of Phuket Educational Service Area and Wichitsongkram School. Thai Boxing is held in the conference hall of Chalermphrakiat School. Petong is held at Sapan Hin Petong Court. The winner in each sport game would be the southern representatives to attend the national Thai sport competition in Khon Kaen.
