On August 31st 2010, Watchara Jaruariyanont – the President of Phuket Golf Club, Kitja Pongprapas – the Vice President of Phuket Golf Club, and Prapan Khanthakul – the activity committee of Phuket Golf Club, together gave a statement about a golf tournament called Amateur Open 2010.
Watchara said that the Amateur Open 2010 would be held on September 11th 2010 at Loch Palm Golf Club, Phuket. This tournament aims to raise the funds to support Phuket representative golfers who would attend the Thailand ‘National Games’ sport competition that would be held in Chonburi this December.
There would be four categories of players including ladies aged 25 years up, seniors aged 50 years up, ‘Super Seniors’ aged 60 years up, and a general category without gender and age restrictions. The registration costs 2,750 baht including green fees, caddy, souvenir and party. The award giving party to winners from each category of this tournament would be held at Phuket Merlin Hotel and there would be lucky draws for the rest of the golfers at the same time. Watchara added that golfers from Phuket had won many previous golf tournaments and Phuket Golf Club wants to support the new generation of golf players to join future tournaments, including international ones.
