Fernando Alonso still leads going into the final round of the world championship in Abu Dhabi.

Fernando Alonso leads going into the final round of the Formula One world championship in Abu Dhabi but faces a double challenge from Red Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

The Ferrari ace finished third in the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos on Sunday behind winner Vettel and Webber.

He leads Aussie Webber by eight points and Vettel by 15 points. 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton took fourth in Brazil and still has a mathematical chance of winning the championship 24 points adrift.

Hamilton’s McLaren teammate and reigning title holder Jenson Button finished fifth after starting 11th on the grid but his title challenge is over.

Alonso will become a three-time world champion with second place or better in the season-finale.

Red Bull’s 1-2 gives them their first constructors’ title after opening up an unassailable lead over McLaren.
