Heavy rain certainly didn’t hinder the performance of the players or the spirit of the fans at last night’s game against PTT Rayong at the Surakul Stadium. The South Sea Kirin’s beating the visitor’s 3-0 with an impressive performance.
Phuket started the game well with No 9 Watcharapong Jun-ngam slotting home the first goal just 7 minutes into the game. FC Phuket pretty much dominated the first half with goalkeeper Jonathan Matijas barely making a save.
PTT Rayong started the 2nd half well, putting pressure on FC Phuket’s back four and giving Phuket’s French keeper at least a touch of the ball. On 72 minutes it was Watcharapong slotting home again giving the home tea a 2-0 lead, and the much deserved title of player of the match.
A tired looking Rayong kept battling but on the 79th minute substitute Ossian Nissim (No 23) sealed the win in front of the 1,600 crowd.
The win now leaves FC Phuket in 6th place in the table with 38 points, 1 point away from 4th position and 10 points away third place Chainat, whom they are now chasing for a chance at automatic promotion to the Thai Premier League. They will certainly be battling in their remaining 9 games for their hopes of promotion.
FC Phuket’s next 3 games are away from home starting on 1st October against Chiang Mai FC.
