The members of ‘Phuket Drunken Drivers Victim Club’ sell goods to generate money to help the victims of drunken drivers in Phuket on the weekends and holidays on the first floor of Bangkok Hospital Phuket.
Nalinee Boontawatchai, the president of this club, brings many items like snacks, stickers, T shirts etc to sell at the hospital. She hopes this would make money to help the club members in future.
Nalinee said that she was a victim who was disabled by a drunken driver. At the time, she not only lost parts of her body, but her mind was lost too. She understood the feeling of people who were disabled by accidents and careless drunken drivers, so she and other club members host the campaign to remind people not to drink and drive and to generate money to help club members. She added that there were many disabled in Phuket waiting for help.
Nalinee Boontawatchai, the President of ‘Phuket Drunken Drivers Victim Club’, lost her left arm from a bus accident in 1985 and her legs became paralyzed from a pick up accident in 1990. The accidents were caused by her drunken friend and another drunken driver who hit her car.
Now, Nalinee is working as a staff member of Medical Study Center, Wachira Phuket Hospital. She graduated from Sukhothai Dharmatiraj University and Phuket Rajabhat University. She has been working to help drunken driver victims since 2005. If any of you meet her, don’t forget to buy her products because it would help the disabled who are victims of drunken drivers.
