Phuket welcomed record breaking pilotOn 13th May 2013 at Dewa Resort and Spa in Nai Yang Beach, Phuket, Director of Tourism Malaysia Thailand – Mr. Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof and the acting director of the Phuket branch of Tourism Malaysia – Mohd Fahmi Nordin welcomed Malaysian pilot Captain James Anthony Tan who landed in Phuket as hhis last stop on the last leg of his round the world flight attempt called “1 Malaysia Round the world Expedition (1RTW)”

Captain Tan has flown 22,000 miles, covering 20 different countries, including many Asian countries, Russia, United States, Canada, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Italy, France and United Kingdom. Captain Tan was born with dyslexia and has previously been awarded “The Youngest Malaysian to fly a Single Engine Piston Aircraft in an Expedition” by the Malaysia Book of Records in 2012. The 1RTW expedition was organised by the Young Pilots Association Malaysia, Malaysia Felda Youth Council and 1M4U, and Captain Tan has now been recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as “The Youngest Pilot in Malaysia and South East Asia to Have Flown around the World.”
