Phuket Resort Offers Distinctive Tastes of the Island

Phuket Resort Offers Distinctive Tastes of the Island Phuket, with its maritime and tin mining heritage has a distinct ethnic makeup, and this is reflected in the island’s cuisine, where Chinese, Southern Thai, Malaysian, Burmese and Indian influences can all be detected.

Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket, set on Karon Beach on the west coast and drawing its design inspiration from the classic Sino-Portuguese shophouses that are a defining characteristic of Phuket Town, ensures that these culinary influences are well represented in its Cove Restaurant.

One of the great favourite dishes in Phuket is Moo Hong (shown in photo), a pork stew made from pork shoulder, with a dark soy sauce, a clove of garlic, peppercorns, and a dash of medium soy sauce and plum sugar.

The stew is served with warm Thai jasmine rice. With its rich flavour, this meal has always been one the favourites amongst Thai Chinese families.

Mee Sa Pam, which is a dish of fried Phuket noodles with a choice of meats and served with Chinese cabbage and soy sauce, is another great favourite, enjoyed at any time of the day.

These two popular dishes, which represent the typical tastes of Phuket, can both be found at the resort’s Cove Restaurant.
