Mr.Prasert Fakthongphol, President of Phuket’s Shrine Society and the Theprasri Association (Bang Neaw Shrine) have announced a ceremony which will see the Phuket’s Holy Fire taken to celebrate the Vegetarian Festival in Malaysia.
The Tai Chun Ong Shrine in Malaysia has asked for the ceremony (Cherr Heaw Hoy Kew Ong Tai Tae), allowing them to bring the light from Phuket’s Bang Neaw Shrine to Malaysia for their Vegetarian Festival held from 15th – 23rd October 2012.
Around 100 members of the Malaysian board will depart from Malaysia on July 25th 2012 and arrive in Phuket the morning of July 26th and will participate in the ceremony summonsing the sacred fire. At 7:45 pm a procession (Eaw Keng) will start from Kong Teg Tai Jun Ong (Koy Seng Ong), Takuatung Road through Kra Road, Phuket Road, Clock Tower roundabout, Metropole Hotel, Robinson Ocean, Ong Sim Pai Road, and turn through Phuket Road and finish at the Bang Neaw Shrine.
Later that night, a ceremony will bring Yok Ong Song Tae in front of the Pillar Koteng and will lead a procession of the Lord which will end at Sapan Hin. The ceremony will bring Kew Ong Tai Tae and the
sacred fire (Cherr Hew Hoy Kew Ong Tai Tae) to be enshrined at the shrine.
On July 27th July at 7:45pm a Koy Han (exorcise) ceremony will be held for the rravellers from Malaysia and other people. There will then be a show from students of Baan Bang Neaw School. And on July 28th the Board will invite the Holy Fire (Cherr Hew Hoy Kew Ong Tai Tae) from Bang Neaw Shrine to Kong Tek Jun Ong Shrine (Koy Seng Ong) at Takuatung Road to be brought to Malaysia.
Anybody wishing to participate in this ceremony should wear white and on the day of the parade, the board would like to invite Phuket people to oblation in front of their houses (both morning and night parades).
