Early on Sunday morning, 17th November 2013, at Prince of Songkla University Phuket Campus, Advisor of PPAO Chief Executive – Mr. Boonserm Suwannarathphoom was on hand to present trophies to participants of the “10th Child-Watch Mini Marathon” organized by Child-Watch Phuket Association, Prince of Songkla University Phuket Campus, Jui Tui Tao Bo Keng Foundation, Kusoldharma Phuket, and various local running clubs.
The aim of the event was to raise funds to use for various projects initiated by Child-Watch Association, a charity which has been awarded the royal “Best Child and Young People Organization of the Year” in 2006, 2012 and 2013. Additionally, Child-Watch Phuket Association was one among 12 NGOs to be awarded “Thailand NGO Awards 2013” by the Rockefeller Foundation. The work of Child-Watch Phuket encompasses the safeguard and protection of impoverish, socially deprived, homeless children whose parents are prison inmates, and abused children of all types as listed in the Child Protection Act 2003. Its ongoing programs include: Uncle Pitak Home, Childcare Holland Huis, Ban Boon Pitak Recreational program, case follow-up programs, mobile teaching program, educational program, and formula for infants program. The mini-marathon event featured booths for crafting kratongs and offering body massage to families and handed out many gifts to participants.
