On May 13th 2010, at Central Festival Phuket department store, Taisika Praisa-ngob, the President of Phuket Red Cross, presided over a fashion show named ‘Glittering Yaya 2010: Phuket Peranakan Museum Charity Fund’ in order to generate money to establish the Phuket Peranakan Museum. The museum would be located at the old Chartered Bank in Phuket Town, to show the lifestyle and meaningful heritage of Baba Peranakan people who were Chinese-Thai ancestors of many Phuket people.

On the same day, there was an opening of an event called ‘Luxury Style’ featuring house and condominium exhibitions together with a jewelry and motor show. All the events last until May 19th, 2010.
