On Sunday 28th November Da Vinci Restaurant in Nai Harn transformed its usually relaxed dining atmosphere in to a staggering glamorous black carpet runway event that would give runways in Paris, New York, Milan & London a good run for their money. The Gallery at the BZenter was a buzzing backdrop doubling as the designer’s and models dressing rooms and make-up artist set, it was the perfect partnership venue for such an amazing show.
Now dubbed locally in the South of the Island as the Fashion Show of the year ‘Black is Back’ raised more than180,000 THB for local charities Life Home Project and Sunshine Village Yacht Association. One of the show organisers Lisa Allen Make-Up Artist commented that she had never seen such an amazing array of people all in the same place at the same time in Phuket, the atmosphere was electrifying and she hopes that there will definitely be future shows with already one planned for Spring 2011 with designers jetting in to Phuket from Singapore & Hong Kong.
This show really put Phuket’s Fashion Scene on the map and it was only made possible by some very highly appreciated sponsors, Da Vinci’s Restaurant, Wine Connection, Make Up Store, Movenpick, 91.5FM, Absolute, ITree and Luxury Events Phuket. Over two hundred guests attended all dressed appropriately in glamorous black attire it was definitely the show to dress up for.
The show hosted two locally based designers Venera for Sash-iko Brand and Noelle Adam. Joining them from Bangkok was leading fashion designer Phathanun Poositsuvapong and a group of student designers from the Accademia Italiana Institute of Fashion & Design. All models were chosen locally from Phuket for their stunning looks and commitment to fashion.
On the evening of the show students from the British International School volunteered to sell raffle tickets which raised over 30,000 THB alone with prizes donated by Serenity Terraces, Atmanjai Detox Centre, Vijitt Resort, Wine Connection, Da Vinci and Art & Culture proving that there is definitely a community spirit required for fundraising and it worked wonders.
Using fashion to increase awareness to fundraising on this special occasion was the perfect match. For further details of future Fashion Show Events please join Phuket Fashion Scene Group on Facebook or email firstname.lastname@example.org
