Over 24,000 baht was raised for local charity Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation at the “Black Is Back” fashion event held at DaVinci Restaurant on 24 March, 2013.
Organised by Can Do Event Agency, the chic event revolved around two fashion shows and offered exceptional cuisine for 150 guests. The organisers showed incredible generosity by donating all proceeds from the evening’s silent auction to the charity. Auction items included a painting by “Thailand’s Got Talent” finalist Romadon, who impressed guests by creating the piece at the event.
“We are so grateful for this generous support of our work providing quality English language education to local Thai children,” said Tina Hall, the Foundation’s Director of Operations. “Everything we do would not be possible without the community’s help.”
The Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation is a Thai registered charity teaching free English lessons to over 900 students at the government schools in Kamala and Kalim. They also run an after school programme for the 130 residential children at Kamala School, most of whom have no family to care for them. The Foundation receives no government funding, and relies on fundraising events such as this to continue its important work.
